Hi! Im a singer/songwriter (and mom) who has recorded 2 country music albums. Listen online at www.loreenbliss.com. I am happily married, meeting my husband, Tim, while attending Utah State University in Logan, UT. We both received our Bachelor Degrees, mine in Elementary Education, with a Music Minor, Tim, a dual major in Business/Ag Business. After graduation we moved to Texas where our first child was born. We owned a dairy there for a bit then moved back to Utah. Tim currently owns a dairy in a small Utah town, where we are busy with our 5 children. Our oldest was born in 1998, we had TWINS in 2001, our 4th child in 2006, and our latest addition was born in June of 2008. I was so excited when we decided to record my 1st album. I have always wanted to preserve my voice... share it with others in such a timeless fashion. Well, at 33, I lived this dream. Where it takes me, time will only tell. One day at a time. I'm not out to be famous, just to share my voice and my messages through my songs with as many people as I can reach. I have 3 blogs, one for me, one for family, and one for my tour. Enjoy and Keep Singin'!

Quote

A friend sent me an e-mail with this quote in it... I loved it so much I had to include it here:

"To the world you might be one person;
but to one person, you might be the world!"

Something to always remember! Well, have a great day and remember to keep smilin'!

    HAPPY EASTER!

We colored Easter Eggs the night before Easter Sunday... and without any major spills! That is a miracle! But the greatest miracle is Jesus' resurrection! So, with all the egg coloring, Easter Bunny, egg hunts, candy and sugar highs, just remember to talk to your children about the REAL meaning of Easter. Children have an amazing ability to understand things about Jesus. They are closer to the veil than we are... remember? What a joyous time of year! Happy Easter!

(I wrote a comment about our Easter Sunday, so read on....)
(Want to see pictures? They are on my music site under photos, then family photos. Oh, it's simpler just to click here:)

  • Loreen Bliss.....on chocolate

I must admit I have become quite spoiled.

OK, I know I've said not to focus on the candy thing at Easter, but you must admit it has become a part of Easter too. So...... I have forgotten how crappy chocolate Easter Bunnys are!

I have become quite spoiled. I hate American chocolate. Swiss chocolate... now that's good chocolate! We've even eaten chocolate straight from Germany and have never been the same since! Lindt, Monarc, Milka, and more have become favorites. I'd rather have a little bit of good chocolate than a lot of junk! Quality is everything. You can buy Lindt here. (Lindor truffles are great.) Toblerone is good too! Belgian chocolate is good too. Cheap chocolate just isn't worth it anymore. (OK, I still like M&M's)

Here is a bit of trivia for you about the origin of German's Chocolate and Chocolate cake (note German's not German!): (OK, I give Americans credit here. Right in Massachusetts.)
  • Dorchester, Massachusetts - Chocolate!

    GERMAN CHOCOLATE:
Did you know?...... German chocolate, and German chocolate cake -- actually that is incorrect, it is German's Chocolate and German's Chocolate cake, the man who developed this chocolate was a Mr. German -- it has nothing to do with Germany.

  • Enjoy your chocolate!
(Oh, yeah, Symphony is American - Hersey's in fact... So I know we can make decent chocolate! Ghirrardelli is called "America's Premium Chocolate"..... but they are nothing like Lindt though, so we are still behind.)

What's your favorite kind of chocolate?

    Sameeta Losee Cowley is awesome!

OK, she's twisted my arm..... reminded me again and again... and so here I am, finally paying tribute to someone I owe so much to. Sameeta, you are the inspiration to my album (even though you hate country music). The energy behind my songs (even though you were at school during all the recording), the motivation behind my success (ok, so what success). For all you do, I THANK YOU!!! No, really, actually I'm priviledged that you came to me in need years ago, and I'm so glad that your life is going so well and that we became such good friends. I'll always be right here when you need me. You made (still do) me feel young, and in touch with the youth. Now that you are "all growed up" and have TWO kids, we have even more in common. We've only known each other for 5 years.... Here's to new friends that last!

MINDY - You're great too (even though you made me change Jaren's diaper today! Really, my own son, what a bother! OK, I have to be honest, Tim did it!). Mindy, you are such a great babysitter!!!! (With great timing.)

    I love the Losee family!

    Old Friends...

It has been so much fun the past couple of months... friends from high school and college have found my website and have contacted me! I love that! It is always so great to hear from people that had such an influence in my life while I was growing up. It is fun to reminisce.... partly upon how stupid I was, partly at how easy life was back then. Didn't think so then, but you know what they say...hind sight is 20/20.

As kids, we never think "grown ups" understand. They aren't wiser! I still remember the day I looked at my mom and told her how sorry I was for the...ok, no other word for it... hell I put her through! Especially after having kids I realized just how right my parents always were!

I look back at my younger days and realize just how much each experience I went through helped me to grow. How each friend was a very influential part of that! I appreciate each person that I have felt privileged to call a friend and I thank them for all the memories. I look forward to keeping friendships going, even if it only comes down to an occasional email, at least they know I care.

One thing that I never want to do.... is forget. Never forget what it is like to be young. I want to always understand, because I still remember, what my own children are going through during their adolescent years. (I wish they would stay this young forever!)

    How to...?

OK, I've figured out how to add the Favorites section (since my template didn't come with that, such a pain)..... but I can't figure out how to change the font style on the word Favorites to match the other headings (Recent Posts and Archives). Not that it matters that much, but I am curious! Help! (I hate HTML! I love my Yahoo! Site Builder, in which I create my music website! Love the drag and drop stuff! Go Yahoo!).

    Hmmmm...studio journal

Howdy! I wish I would have started this last summer while I was recording. It would have been nice to keep a running commentary on the studio. Although it probably would have gone something like this....

June.... in the studio again...a lot. Finished up my first four song music demo though..
July ... still in the studio. Decided to continue and record a whole album. Going country.. finished writing Crayon Heart and Take Me Away.
August... things are really picking up in the studio now... I record All the Right Words, Crayon Heart and Take Me Away.. oh then slowing down due to illness.
Sept... sick part of the month....so haven't been in the studio much. Probably only three times this month. Finished recording All the Right Words. The end of the month I was able to study privately with Nashville vocal coach Brett Manning. Man did he find my red neck.... got your red neck on?? Wrote A Man Like That with him.
Oct. OK things really get pickin' up here! Daddy's Farm is recorded (that took me forever to get written right. Recording was easy compared to the process of getting there. Although they did get a good "chicken" out of me while singing. That would have been a good blooper.) Record A Man Like That, Since You've Been Gone, and This Far Down the Line this month!
Nov. Finally decided on a cover tune.... an old Bryan Adams song called This Time. I actually recorded this song at 4 in the morning!!! It was supposed to be just a scratch track and we ended up keeping it! Crazy! That was fun 'countrifying' it! Overdrive is recorded and so is one of my favorites, Dried Roses. Probably in the studio 11 times this month. Finishing touches on production worked on a lot this month. Sometime in Nov or December I rerecord Always Love Me - just acoustic now. Marc, my producer, even made me cry trying to get some emotion into the song... I really felt it as I "sang to Tim." (Marc wasn't being mean, just making me think about how much I love my husband, Tim.)
Dec....Last days in the studio... CD goes to duplication.... first duplication ready on December 20, 2004! (The day of our Christmas concert at Thanksgiving Point) Wow... what a long haul!
Jan. - March.... Album getting mastered, finishing touches, etc.... changed up one song a bit...
Hopefully will get final duplication going before April. I'm running low. Only duplicated 250 CDs so far though... I only have 30 left. A lot up and coming!

OK.... I had just planned on writing... in the studio, back in the studio, in the studio again...you get the point... then I started remembering more than I though, so I figured I'd include it. Fun stuff!
